v0.86.0 — Richer replays, settled tournaments, and travel fixes

  • Replays pause on the big moments. Playback now stops on key beats — a tag, a clue reveal, a destination reached — with a popup explaining what happened, then resumes on its own or when you hit Resume.
  • Tournament replays got a lot better. The standings panel collapses out of the way, clue reveals are stitched into one attributed narrative that follows the race front, and every destination arrival gets its own moment. Concluded tournaments now show a "Watch replay" link right in the lobby.
  • Concluded tournaments read as finished. Settled tournaments move into their own "Past tournaments" group with muted titles, past-tense copy, and the medalists named in the row.
  • Find & Recreate photos acceptance improved. Standing inside a park, campus, or cathedral close no longer counts as out of range — a photo passes if you are near the access point, on the building footprint, or close to the centre.
  • Overnight departures show the right countdown. Boarding times on overnight and cross-timezone trains no longer read a day late.

August 10, 2026

v0.85.0 — Honest Area clues and better-flowing quest chains

  • Area clues now mean exactly what they show. The circle you see is the real uncertainty: the radius drawn is the radius used, and the target is equally likely to be anywhere inside it. Previously some Area clues drew a wide circle while the target was quietly pinned much closer to the center.
  • Quest chains no longer double back. When the next destination in a chain is drawn, it now steers away from the direction you just came from, so a route keeps moving onward instead of ping-ponging between two areas.
  • GeoRace destination distance options are now 200, 350, 500 and 750 km (previously 100, 250, 500 and 800 km). Games and presets already using the old distances keep working unchanged.

Grote Kerk

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The Grote Kerk (Great Church), also known as the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady), is the most iconic landmark in Breda and one of the finest examples of Brabantine Gothic architecture in the Netherlands. Soaring over the city center from the main market square (Grote Markt), its prominent 97-meter clock tower has defined Breda's skyline since its construction between the 14th and 16th centuries. Historically, the church shares a deep connection with the Dutch Royal Family. Before Delft became the traditional burial site for the House of Orange-Nassau, the Grote Kerk served as the official mausoleum for the ancestors of William of Orange. Inside, the Prince's Chapel (Prinsenkapel) features a gilded vault and houses the ornate Renaissance tombs of early Nassau lords, including Count Engelbrecht I and Engelbrecht II. Today, while still occasionally used for religious services, the church operates primarily as a cultural venue, museum, and event space. Visitors can explore its interior—filled with historic wall paintings, intricate choir stalls, and a grand 18th-century organ—or climb the steep steps of the tower for panoramic views across Breda and the surrounding countryside.

Maczek Memorial Breda

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The **Maczek Memorial Breda** is a modern museum and center of remembrance located adjacent to the Polish Military Cemetery on Ettensebaan in Breda, Netherlands. Opened in 2020, the memorial honors General Stanisław Maczek and the 1st Polish Armoured Division, who liberated Breda in October 1944 during World War II with minimal civilian casualties and infrastructure damage by avoiding heavy artillery. Through interactive multimedia walls, historical artifacts—including General Maczek's original uniform—a documentary auditorium, and a quiet reflection room (*Chambre de Reflection*), the center tells the personal stories of the Polish soldiers who fought across Europe for freedom. Positioned right next to the cemetery where over 160 Polish soldiers and General Maczek himself are buried, it serves as an enduring symbol of gratitude and bond between Breda and its Polish liberators.

Chassé Theater

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The Chassé Theater is a premier cultural institution in Breda and the largest performing arts complex in the southern Netherlands. Opened in 1995, it was designed by renowned Dutch architect Herman Hertzberger, who integrated a striking, continuous undulating roof over the entire structure. This sweeping wave design was a clever architectural solution intended to disguise two massive 30-meter stage towers so they wouldn't disrupt Breda’s historic city skyline. Housing three main auditoriums, three cinema screens, and multiple restaurants, the complex serves as a lively public gathering hub. Hertzberger designed the spacious open foyer and light-filled corridors according to his philosophy that "man is the measure of all things," prioritizing movement and interaction among visitors. Today, the venue hosts over 3,000 film screenings and hundreds of live events annually, ranging from Broadway musicals and classical concerts to modern dance and film festivals.

Heilig Hartbeeld

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The Heilig Hartbeeld is a statue that stands quietly at Pastoor Pottersplein in the Belcrum neighborhood of Breda. This statue is very special to the people who live there. It was made by the artist Jacques van Poppel. Was first shown to the public in 1952. The Heilig Hartbeeld is also a war memorial for the Belcrum neighborhood. It remembers the people who died during World War II and the May 1940 "Flight of Breda". Below the statue there are stone carvings that show what happened during the war. These carvings show people fighting and families running away. They also show things that people did to help each other. Inside the base of the Heilig Hartbeeld statue there is a tube that has the names of the people from the community who died. The Heilig Hartbeeld statue has a message on it. It says "Gods liefde is altijd bij ons in goede en kwade dagen" which means "Gods love is always with us, in bad days". The Heilig Hartbeeld statue is a place where the community comes together every year in the autumn. They have a ceremony to remember the people who died and to think quietly about what happened.

Sint-Antoniuskathedraal

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral (Sint-Antoniuskathedraal), situated on Sint-Janstraat in Breda, is the official Roman Catholic cathedral for the Diocese of Breda. Built in 1837 by architect Pieter Huijsers, it was the first major Catholic church erected in the city following the era of hidden "clandestine" churches. The building is a notable example of a waterstaatskerk—a church financed partly by the Dutch government and constructed under the supervision of civil engineers—featuring a striking Neoclassical facade that incorporates Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns beneath a temple-like pediment. Though it lost its cathedral status to other local churches in the late 19th century, it was restored as the seat of the Bishop of Breda in 2001, and today remains an active place of worship renowned for its serene interior, intricate 1868 wooden pulpit, and historic relief carvings. In addition to its imposing architecture, the cathedral holds rich cultural significance within Breda's local community. Its interior is famed for housing a magnificent pipe organ built in 1838 by the noted organ builder François-Bernard Loret, which continues to be used for sacred music recitals and solemn liturgies today. Dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua—the patron saint of lost things—the cathedral remains a quiet, spiritual sanctuary right in the bustling heart of Breda's old town, drawing both devout parishioners and history enthusiasts visiting the city's historic Catholic heritage trail.

Kasteel van Breda

Selected
Midnight Wolf

The Breda Castle (Kasteel van Breda), situated adjacent to Valkenberg Park, is a historic fortress and the ancestral seat of the House of Nassau, ancestors to the Dutch Royal Family. Originating as a 12th-century defensive stronghold, it passed to the Nassaus in the early 15th century and was transformed in the 1530s by Count Hendrik III into one of the first Renaissance palaces north of the Alps, designed by Italian architect Tommaso Vincidor. Over the centuries, it hosted emperors, served as a residence for William of Orange, and witnessed major events of the Eighty Years' War, including the signing of the Treaty of Breda in 1667. Since 1828, the castle grounds have housed the Netherlands' Royal Military Academy (Koninklijke Militaire Academie), making the historic site a restricted military complex accessible to the public mainly via guided tours.

Lighthouse

Selected
Midnight Wolf

This artwork, titled Lighthouse (or Vuurtoren in Dutch), was designed by Italian architect Aldo Rossi and stands in Park Valkenberg in Breda. What makes the structure particularly notable is its location: Breda has no historical connection to the sea and never actually had a functioning lighthouse, making this piece a playful and striking addition to the park landscape. The red-and-gray striped tower serves as a colorful focal point that contrasts sharply with the surrounding greenery. Its deliberate placement far from any coastline transforms a typically utilitarian nautical structure into an intriguing piece of urban art.

Flying Pins

Selected
Midnight Wolf

Unveiled in May 2000 as a millennium project, Flying Pins (Flying Pins Monument) is a landmark public art installation located at the intersection of John F. Kennedylaan and Fellenoord in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Created by pop-art sculptors Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, the dynamic 8.5-meter-tall sculpture captures a monumental bowling strike mid-motion, featuring ten giant bright yellow pins scattering as a sunken dark bowling ball plows into them. The artists were inspired by the long, straight stretch of Kennedylaan avenue, which reminded them of a bowling lane. The vivid yellow hue of the pins was deliberately chosen to match the thousands of yellow daffodils that bloom along the boulevard every spring, harmonizing the whimsical steel sculpture with the surrounding green landscape and symbolizing the city's energetic, innovative spirit.

Baroniemonument

The Nassau Monument—also known as the Baroniemonument or Nassau-Baroniemonument—stands in Valkenberg Park in Breda, Netherlands. Created by the famous Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers and unveiled in July 1905 by Queen Wilhelmina, it commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Nassau family's connection to Breda, which began in 1404 with the marriage of Count Engelbrecht I of Nassau-Dillenburg and Johanna van Polanen. The stone tower features intricate reliefs depicting the historic couple, colorful coat-of-arms heraldry representing regional municipalities along its middle band, and a crown featuring the Nassau lion holding a shield at its peak.

National Film Archive of Japan

Selected
Midnight Wolf

Tucked into Tokyo’s quiet Kyōbashi district, just a short stroll from the bustle of Ginza, lies the National Film Archive of Japan (NFAJ)—the country’s premier sanctuary for moving images. Originally established as part of the National Museum of Modern Art before becoming an independent national institution, NFAJ is the only public facility in Japan dedicated entirely to the preservation, research, and exhibition of cinema culture. Beyond its modern, sleek facade sits a treasure trove holding roughly 40,000 films along with vast collections of vintage posters, hand-annotated screenplays, and historic filming equipment. For film enthusiasts and casual travelers alike, the archive offers a rare window into Japan’s rich cinematic history. Its permanent collection houses priceless cultural artifacts, including Momijigari (1899)—the oldest surviving Japanese film—and preserved original prints of Akira Kurosawa and Yasujirō Ozu masterpieces. Upstairs, permanent and rotating exhibition galleries display original concept sketches, classic promotional art, and vintage cameras, while the 4th-floor library offers Japan's largest public collection of film literature for deep research. What truly elevates the NFAJ experience is its dynamic screening program held in the Nagase Memorial Theatre OZU. Unlike commercial cinemas showing new releases, the archive runs curated retrospectives, restored silent films with live accompaniment, and thematic showcases of international cinema. It is a vital pilgrimage site for cinephiles wanting to experience classic Japanese storytelling on the big screen exactly as it was meant to be seen.
